Changes to our Spring 2022 Registration process:
1. It's important to us to keep fees as low as possible for families while still being able to provide the BEST experience for each and every player. We made a decision to increase all draft division fees by just $5. That money will go directly to the funding of a fully trained and developed umpire crew. While we will still need help from parents in some age groups, we want to make sure we have a paid umpire at home plate for each and every game for our draft divisions. There were no fee increases to divisions without umpires.
2. In previous years, for baseball draft division age groups (league ages 8-12), you essentially had to guess what division you thought your player might be drafted to ie Single A, AA, AAA Minors etc in order to complete registration. This was very confusing from an assessment perspective as well as giving potentially false expectations as to where your player may be drafted. This year, we decided to make a single division for registration (Cal Ripken Draft Divisions) to streamline the process! Important things to note with this change are outlined below. Please note League Age refers to your players age on or before May 1st, 2022.
  1. If your player is League Age 8, you can register them for Prep Minor OR the Cal Ripken Draft Division. Prep Minor teams are not assessed or drafted, just placed together by elementary school. If you register for the Cal Ripken Draft Division, your player MUST attend assessments and could be drafted onto a Single A team. If they do NOT assess or they are NOT drafted, they will then drop to Prep Minor and be assigned to a team.
  2. All players (excluding T-Ball, Coach Pitch, and Prep Minor) will assess by league age on March 5th. Times and additional information and instructions will be sent prior to the day but mark your calendars. Each player MUST assess to ensure they are drafted to a team that matches their ability for safety and development reasons. If they do not assess, they will be placed on a team after the draft has been concluded. They will not play in a division lower than what they played the season prior (if with MYB) but there are no opportunities to "play up." We do not hold make-up assessments as practice begins for these divisions on March 7th.
    1. Single A-players can be league age 8, 9, or 10
    2. AA-players can be league age 9, 10, or 11
    3. AAA Minors-players can be league age 10, 11, or 12
    4. AAA Majors-players can be 11 or 12
    5. Babe Ruth-players can be league age 13,14 or 15
  3. As a reminder, there are NO coach or buddy requests allowed in draft divisions. The ONLY exception to this is if you have a brother pair close in age, you MUST indicate on registration if you would like them to draft together or separately.
3. Softball Registration process remains unchanged with a few minor details to note as outlined below:
1. The Rookie Machine Pitch division as been changed to Softball T-Ball
2. Fees in softball were reduced as we will NOT be providing any head wear as part of the uniform. This decision was made based on a survey sent to previous softball parents.
3. U10, U12, and U14/16 Assessments will be held on March 5th. All players MUST assess. TImes and details will be emailed at a later time.
4. Softball T-Ball and U8 divisions do NOT assess. Teams are formed based on elementary school.
